River Soča

"Comely daughter of a clear mountain" - so this is alpine beauty is praised Simon Gregorčič, Gorica nightingale, in his song "Soči". And it is unique in its emerald gown, the lively and flowing over the rocks you dolbe their way to the sea. For many, one of Europe's most beautiful Soča river.

Soča in Trenta source, in the heart of the Julian Alps, along the surface of 136 km and carries with him tons of sand and silt, which in Italy before being suspended flows into the Adriatic Sea, generating a number of lagoons and earthworks in its delta. In Solkan the river by hydroelectric dams, so it flooded the valley in a peaceful lake, which is a nice fish (motor-powered boats are not permitted). Under power, the Soča shouted lively and torrential. Popular with kayakers, a pleasant summer refreshment. Just below the left bank power plant Soča orderly and easily accessible, the Bank stands as a nice restaurant with sports tennis playground, volleyball and basketball. Unfortunately many are not aware of risks and torrential fluid water, even in Solkan, already claimed lives. Therefore, in any bathing or swimming, we recommend great caution, the best was lower in the water when accompanied by a native or an experienced guide.

Access: From Nova Gorica to Solkan. Access is possible at two locations: the old dam - the traffic lights in the hotel Sabotin turn left and drive to the first segment, which leads to the right (next to a small parking lot), drive the way forward, over the railway crossing and then down to gravel parking lot. In shuttlecock - Take the main road through Solkan, past the intersection of Goriška Brda and the next junction turn left past the cemetery (on left). Drive on to the next intersection and turn right there. Leave the car in the parking lot.
